June 13, 2004

Sunday. Hialeah, Florida. It says here I put $606 into the bank today, yet my notes are covered with warnings about an impending shortfall. On this day 1983, Pioneer 10 became the first spacecraft (of ours) to leave the Solar System. Nobody knew at the time it was a unique event. And in 1920, the US Postal Service enacted a new rule that prevented children from being sent by parcel post.
Pioneer 10 was the object that carried the controversial plaque depicting the location of Earth and Carl Sagan's frumpy wife instead of a total babe like I wanted. Pioneer 10 weighed 560 pounds and so did her thighs.
No wonder the aliens have refused to make contact.
