[Author's note 2026: this picture is wildly out of date. This event did not occur until 2003. How it got posted and stayed posted in error for so long is a mystery for the ages. I did not even relocate to Florida until 1999 and met Frank in 2002. Bytheway, he has long since disappeared. That is not a typo, that is his surname, "Bytheway". Frank Bytheway. There was no journal kept in 2003, but everybody who keeps a work of this style and intensity will easily understand how ten years can slip through the cracks. Am I right about that? Show of hands.]
The famous 1,000,000th toothpick. After months of counting, we could predict when the magic moment would occur. So we invited everybody we knew and six or seven actually showed up. That’s Frank holding the final toothpick, I still have it around here for safekeeping. Within weeks, we were off to San Diego as guests of the Fair, but that is another tale from the trailer court. I have no idea why this picture is black & white.
