Nothing to show for the morning, so you get the details. Someday, a student of history will be glad I found the time. At least that’s the theory. I had to get to the money place first things, that is done. I’m up $32 so I walked over to Harbor Freight in time to see a big ICE takedown. Some illegals in a $45,000 pickup truck walked away in cuffs. Of course, I forgot my new camcorder on the desk back at the cabin. I spent $20 on a new 18V charger and another $10 on a three foot level which has features I don’t like. Such as the center bubble has to be set the right way up. But the 4-foot level is now $30.
Then to the Thrift for some new work pants. Jeans made into cut-offs, and around me they do not last. As I’m leaving, I bump into the new singer guy, the handyman. He’s got a shed full of electrical stuff, and a gas stove which I cannot use. Now there are a dozen explanations, but he was riding a bicycle and around Florida, that too often means no driver’s license. But I don’t know, I just met the guy. He’s got every correct mannerism of a good entertainer. He can sing a cappella, says harmonies are easy, and knows a lot of slow songs.
Later, this is the frame of the new shelf, all repurposed lumber. I can’t build the full box first, as the ledger along the wall has to be anchored custom to the studs on the new bathroom wall. I hope my experience shows.
Alaine called, we have a date. But when? That’s an important component of a date, so I better explain. JZ is going to get a ride out from one of the brothers, but we don’t know when. The plan is he stays for a couple days, then takes the bus back. But I know it is better to take the bus to the nearest train station even if the schedules do not overlap. It is a go? Maybe, here’s a chance to reveal, I think, why people don’t visit as often as possible. Top of the, Alaine is a very busy lady, and can sometimes get surprised by busy because she volunteers. So we know the best place to meet up is at the church, not the house.
Alaine knows my aversion to driving at night, though I’ve assured her that is more evenings that early mornings. Now add into the mix that JZ does not like complications, which includes train stations. What’s agreed is we meet and go for dinner at the golf course, which keeps changing chefs, but fortunately, they are all good. But the last guy did not make fish, a treat for me as the location is right on the river estuary. JZ's views on complikcations is justified, so to be on the wise side, I'll plan alternatives, including going there myself to get him--which would step on a lot of toes.
Being that all this is not in Punta Gorda [the nearest town with services] as I often refer, it is best to do brunch [no later] and not find out the place started closing early the month before. Essentially, that means leave the next two weeks open, especially the weekends, and hope it flies. You are dealing with three strong and different personalities, so nobody make any fast moves. Except silver, which is at $43.91, and $50 is the panic buying point.
A note here from Ray-B, he’s still kicking but taking it easy like I should. If Ray-B and I ever decided to team up, nothing but the slickest city bands could hold a candle to our show. While I lifted that planer, I did not really carry it more than a few steps at a time. Earlier today, I had a pain across my upper arm, sort of mild cramping, which said, “Day off.” That, and because it was the wrong arm. I’ve learned any lifting can have consequences, so I’ve planned two afternoons off with a book I’ve been meaning to read for years, Grisham’s “Runaway Juror”.
I know movies cannot convey the real depth of that hornet’s next the shysters have made of that process and hope to learn something. Last for this morning is the juvenile red cardinal lady. She is plump and recovered, got her smooth feathers back. But she is feeding almost constantly. Cardinals have time slots where she, quite different behavior, is at the feeder countless times a day. I wonder if she was ill, or injured?

Ray-B reports, sadly, his music ear still rings. I mentioned the Hippie had sniped at me, showing that he has not learned a thing in 25 years. Ray-B says the Hippie told him that I was the one who got fired. I corrected him on that, and sent said information to the Hippie, who will be infuriated. Up yours, dude, and don’t think I don’t know a vindictive zit like you is reading this. That was my fun for the day, you mustn’t think me mean, I’m helping the guy with his stress-coping measures.
The shelf frame in place, that’s as far as I got. It is important that none of the shelf supports rest on the floor. Thinking ahead if the plumbing ever needs repair, this section of flooring will be the best spot to get at it. You can see the frame now held against the bath room wall and it is sold. That’s just a drill box resting where the countertop plywood goes tomorrow.
Nope, I did not get a chance to fribble with my new planer. Above this shelf, just out of sight, is my DVD shelf that did not take the weight of my collection. It’s still there and I’m quick to notice the shelf is sturdy enough for a couple of support posts. I’ll just trim more of the skid lumber. It looks rough now, but, you see, I have a planer.
It’s a drive to Harbor Freight and we got two more chapters of our detective story. It is now complicated and very well produced. There are many passages that prove the narrators really went over the script often enough to add a familiarity not often found. They have finally raided the house of the Lego thief, but also grind my gears with their methods. What’s happened is the cops show up and find something else going on that has nothing to do with the theft. But they detain everybody and get all their info on file.
What’s wrong with that? In my books, that is a breach of the principle of Presumption of Innocence. Some will argue the police don’t know that, but that merely reinforces my point. The visitors were not arrested and they should have been just told to leave. Instead, they now have a police record that is none of the police’s business. What’s wrong with the police having all these files? I’ll tell you. Nobody wants to live in a police state, that’s what. The police should have to destroy all personal information if a person is not charged within 90 days.
Did you know that used to be the law? So if the police need your information again, they have to find you and ask again. That’s the way if should be. Some will say such a system will not work. Wrong, it used to work just fine. Plus, I am a real libertarian, not the Hollywood kind. It is not the State’s business where you live or work, or if you have a vehicle or a bank account, and especially it is none of their business who you are sleeping with. It would do no good to argue with me.
What’s this, a big document score in Michigan? Some guy got a truckload of election material using the FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act). Trump had commanding leads in the three top flip states when the polls shut down and sent all the workers home or told them to take a coffee break. Then locked them out an started recounting mail-in ballots. In the early morning hours and next day, Michigan, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin overtook Trump’s lead, in some cases 700,000 votes. All counted behind window blocked by pizza cartons.
The major find appears to be boxloads of ballots shipped out to remote locations to be mailed in that were signed—but had never been opened. No reasonable person has ever believed Biden won that election. For the record, as the walls close in, Biden and may others are claiming medical conditions to escape justice. I think Biden is using cancer since his last excuse wore thin.
ADDENDUM
The next four months are going to be lean, so I went over the books. There was a numbering sequence error on the joint account that took me an hour and all the say back to December of 2023 to straighten out. I use differing numbers for deposits and withdrawals and after all these years, they coincidentally crossed at that time. Threw everything for a loop. I eventually had to reset numbering way back to December 1, 2023. It’s done.
How about an exciting evening reading the manual for the thickness planer? When unboxed, I noted the factory setting were already correct but I want to know this machine inside out. Otherwise, it is easy to operate and runs itself.
