Here’s a recap of our forever friendship:
1982 – We meet at a party, she’s the girlfriend of the son of the guy who got me into the phone company. Total babe, but not my type, however, very much the practical type. This morning, someone at the desk answered. While nothing is confirmed, bad news of this nature is rarely wrong.
1983 – Marion is married, it does not last, but she makes it clear that we remain friends and her husband is to understand that.
1985 – We begin celebrating her April birthday, a tradition for most of the next 15 years.
1987 – I meet the Reb and Marion drops out of the picture for two years.
1991 – Marion and I take a classic trip to Oregon in my then-new Cadillac.
1995 – We stop counting birthdays.
1998 – She marries her final husband, a younger man.
1999 – I say goodbye for the next 8 years.
2007 – We meet at DisneyWorld.
2012 – Our final visit, a lifetime adventure.
2013 – News arrives Marion is disabled.
2014 – Our only contact becomes letters.
2016 – My executor visits, reporting Marion is not well.
2022 – I am unable to find anyone to check on Marion.
2025 – I write the last of 224 letters, saying I will phone.
Later, I found these photos. This is Marion at the street mall in Denver, 2012. We went to the da Vinci exhibit, another classic and one-of-a-kind adventure. Here is also a pic of Marion in the sidecar, with her wheels on the back deck. I think we went to South Denver that day. And the last pic I have of Marion and her husband. That would be at Epcot in 2007. Maybe I’ll contact him for information. I need closure on this.
