The boss let me down, I had to take Judy’s car to the airport. And just under the wire, too, I think I jumped the last 2 feet is they withdrew the gangplank. This was an unusual flight, a real panorama. It was as breathtaking as anything I”ve seen. The clouds were lying in the valleys in a smooth layer with ripples resembling contour lines of cartographer, thereby disguising the various depths of the valleys.
At 35,000 feet it was clear. The sun was [unknown word] the mountain’s there valleys and gray, but set in the proverbial silver linings off with a purple in the shadows. All this for 600 miles.

Then, the one thing that makes me happy. Beautiful Calgary. We landed from the north. Tina abd I had breakfast. Then Hersh and I, Mike and some ladies etc. all went to Fran & Peter’s for the evening. I guess Peter isn’t with Papa Dan’s any more due to a personality conflict. He did not elaborate. He’s got electronic battleship. I lost 2, won 1. I walked about the old places. They're still there, yes.

[Author’s note 2025: I remember this trip very well. Alas I did not have a picture camera. It was the sight of a lifetime, never to be seen again. I had taken a semester or two of school in Calgary around 10 years earlier. I always liked that place but I can’t say I ‘d bother ever go there again. Too cold.]

Spectacular Calgary, Alberta, in 1974. The mountains were an hour away on the Trans-Canada. But I had no car, so it could have been a light year away.
