Here’s the initial fitting of the sawdust intake. I’ve decided to build the entire assembly from wood, using pallet lumber where possible. The project will require running a new 20A line from the subpanel. Reading other’s experience, the main problem with the shop vac, they say, is forgetting to turn it on. I’m going to take my time and think that one out. There is no wiring system I could not figure out but I’ve seen a couple mentions of a system that turns on itself when the saw is activated. As for the cyclone piece, I see several examples of re-purposed traffic cones. Today’s post is out of chronological order. Why? Just say if I had six months of days like this, my little cabin would be all fixed up and ready. I got in six solid hours.
This project comes as a distraction but in a sense a welcome one. I’ve wanted that sawdust vacuum for years. It involves installing a new breaker so I’ll plan out a new switch panel for the compressor, vacuum, new table saw, shop fan, and a new couple exterior outlets. I have the parts, do I have the patience? While I’m at it, that space between the two sheds is being eyed for lumber storage. Until then, my yard has random stacks of who knows what by now.
Something new to me. I saw a side article that showed how to recycle sawdust. I don’t know how well it works, but it was sawdust poured into cupcake tins, then filled with melted candle wax. When cooled the pellets, it said, would ignite most tinder. At least I presume it is candle wax. One lady says throw a few pine needles in for aroma. The morning turned muggy later, when I decided before starting on other things, I’d best rig up a lumber storage rack. Amazon has shown off it’s latest robot, able to “see” and pack 65% of it’s products. That’s news to your $15 per hour bunch, you know, the ones who don’t know the difference between earning it and demanding it.

My, we’re up early, the usual 5:30AM and the predictable news is a Democrat appointed judge has ruled Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan as unConstitutional. While they are still counting trucked-in ballots. How many times is that in a row? Is America now going to seek that strongman who will stop the communist takeover? The situation is ripe, with both sides in the mid-terms claiming victory. One thing Americans know is this is not the system the original people had in mind for fair and representative elections. And it is pretty much accepted that the D-party knows they got whacked in this election, so they are delaying the count not to cheat, we already know that. But to prevent the Trump faction from having one big victory party.
Few believe there is a voting solution to the socialist problem. BRICS moves closer to sidestepping the petrodollar as these countries move toward becoming the dominant suppliers of manufactured goods. Once again it appears the Bidenistas cheated, but not by enough. Hence, Joe went on air this morning to cover that base, saying if the Republicans win the House, it is because voters want them to “work with me”. And the Zuck states the 11,000 canned workers represent “a range of emotions”. Some say the extended vote-counting is to stall the Republicans from having a big victory celebration and the Democrats have rolled out a pre-planned “triple threat” virus campaign.

And the Biden administration, already low on howitzer ammo, is buying new shells for the Ukraine manufactured in North Korea. What could go wrong? Choosing a coffee refill over a morning start, I watched a few documentaries and so should you. Just don’t believe the Britannica versions and you’ll be okay. One more thing, they should bring back the death penalty, but at first only for people who put plastic zippers on guitar cases. It seems Twitter’s sales manager lipped off Musk, who proceeded to fire her on the spot. Gotta love it. Later, she’s back, but the message is clear. Don’t mess with Musk.

A nice surprise in that I forgot to set the shed clock back. So I put in a four-hour day before noticing. I definitely got started on the lumber rack, it will be pretty solid and completely made from pallet lumber. I designed it to hold pieces 3-foot, 5-foot, and 8-foot by overhanging into the north fenced area so I can grab longer pieces without opening the back door. All this activity brought the neighbor over and he reports he and the other guy on the east took down the large tree I’d mentioned. It really brightens up the back yard. They got tired of it spreading the kudzu in the shade.
The carburetor on his fancy tractor is acting up again so I’ll donate him a can of starter fluid. I cleared a good path for hauling all the lumber I have in the yard to that area in anticipation of building something this year, such as the saw ponies. The lumber will be somewhat inconvenient but not as bad as now where I have to walk all over the back yard. Here’s the middle shelf done, I should not have put it in first. It will now somewhat be in the say as I install more brackets, but the yard is looking better already.

Sadly, he reports his wife passed away a few weeks ago. I was out of town, but I assured him he could use anything in my yard if he needed it. Overall, he’s pretty independent. Still, they were married 34 years and that is not anything easily processed. I had to duck inside due to rain so the rack is in position but not braced. Another hour building it if it dries up a tad. Moving the lumber will likely take up to three hours. The rain wasn’t all bad, I found where the water runs off the neighbor’s shed and I’ve got a piece of gutter that will take care of that.
During the frequent drizzles, I was able to clean more lumber and I’ve found once again I don’t mind this type of dumb-ass work. I’ve checked Etsy again for what other people are selling. Ten pieces of pallet wood go for $60. It’s been cleaned and planed to ½”, which to me is both a lot of work and partially negates the rough look I happen to like. The ads are amusing, hailing this the perfect material “for any creative you can dream up”.
As expected, I could not find the page selling the lumber packets. One of the larger sellers of this reclaimed pallet wood turns out to be just over here in Brooksville and another on the north end of Lakeland where I hardly ever travel. Same with England, reclaimed wood is somewhat of a big deal by the looks of the ads. Makes sense, with all the real wood on that island gone to building ships and apartments smaller than they got in Russia.

Yep, women in central Florida are not on their happy hunting grounds. Late last evening I zipped over to hear the live entertainment and one of them glommed onto me. She saw me “writing numbers” which should give you some sort of idea how rare that must be in these parts. Not actually too bad looking and if she’s shut up I would have invited her to sit down. Just then, the singer took a break and she did not like being put on hold. Strange how little these women learn in 30 years, never quite realizing when the tide has turned.
Then she gets into this mode saying I’m treating her like she was easy because she came over first. She would not listen when I explained I was on duty, but by now the whole place knew she was first. Anyway, I assured her that the whole club had seen this many times already and the situation was “not all that uncommon”. She stomped out.

ADDENDUM
This is an insect nest I found on one of the hoses. Maybe it is one of those mud dauber wasps. it was long empty when I found it so I broke it open with a hammer. It had those egg-cell cavities inside. How about the latest on Reddit with “open marriages”. The wife is all for it when she is young and pretty. After 30, she suddenly wants loyalty. Interesting how that works. I found an documentary on the Rosetta Stone that is actually interesting.
For those who say they don’t make them, here is the 3-gang outlet cover I cannot find as regular stock in any store. I have the advantage of knowing they at least once made them because I’ve used them. This one is advertised by Wal*Mart, but in typical millennial fashion, they don’t carry them in stock. Currently priced at $5.99 each, I would need at least sixteen of them (don’t forget the computer wall).

This computer’s OS is Win 11. I tried to post a few entries from 2003. They are already key entered, but as one long file. The idea is to break them up into daily posts such as you see here. What an asshole system Win 11 turns out to be. It is pretty much useless for keeping track of files. Worst features are no confirmation of a copy or a move. Since you can only open one at a time, you have to close the source folder and open the target, or take a chance by moving it a second time and seeing if it objects. And the search, as always with MicroSoft, sucks. You can only do one search at a time. It will often fail a search that you know is right there. Once again, instead of junking an older XP unit, I’m going to refurbish it just to keep the files organized. Such a pity what they’ve done to computers.
Some trivia as thanks for reading this far. The Celsius thermometer is today upside down from the way it was invented. Huh? This also explains why I prefer to call it centigrade instead of Celsius. It gives the guy too much credit. You see, on his original scale, 0ºC was the boiling point and -100ºC was freezing. In other words, the concept was not an invention but a brain-fart.
