Yesteryear
One year ago today: October 6, 2021, REIT anniversary coincidence.
Five years ago today: October 6, 2017, a sure loser.
Nine years ago today: October 6 ,2013, 45th parallel.
Random years ago today: October 6, 20121, instead, I gave it away.

Let’s hope the Bidenistas are enjoying their Sunday. It’s looking like it’s their last. JZ does not have a coffee maker, just instant. My theory is instant has an odd bitterness because part of the grinding process catches the outer layer of the bean. I had bought a package of baby potatoes, so it was that and eggs as we then headed out for the Railroad Museum. You know the one by now. It’s a standard, we go there once very ten years. And you know, in that time it has barely changed. Certainly none of the cars on the rails behind have been restored as was the declared plan so long ago.
We asked for and got the seniors discount without hesitation, spring chickens that we are. The museum seems smaller every visit, this is my third. If nothing, two of the former cars have been closed. We did not pay extra to view the Presidential Car, do you remember that? Some tour had finished or canceled on our original visit and the guide let us in for free. The one who was amazed at how well we knew trains. Overall, today was not much different as several other groups tagged along with J & I once they learned I would talk about things on the train from memory. Like when I was three years old.

Since two of the women were in those groups, I was more than happy to demonstrate most everything. This is where the soldiers sat, those were water coolers, these little rooms had air-conditioning, and this is how you operate the reclining seats. Those are special cigar ashtrays and that area was adults only because it was licensed. Here is the nurses changing room and this wall swings away to form one big room. My word, that one in the floral pattern, she was a beauty, but alas, on tour with her older sister and those three kids. Sigh.
Later, I finally dug out a copy of “The Asphalt Jungle”, a 1950 plot about a jewelry heist. It was ahead of its time in ways but saved a few years later by a cameo of Marilyn Monroe once she got famous. It was impressed, it had most of the elements that became standards, minus the big shootout and the car chase. Nobody won the $1.5 billion Powerball Lottery, so the jackpot climbes to $1.0 billion by Monday. I have two tickets.

Picture of the day.
Nuuk.

The event of the day was the museum trip. So you won’t think it was a random second-thought, here are some links to other museum visits in this blog. Visits, or near visits, who has time to sort them out? I cannot list them all, but here are the most memorable for me:
