One year ago today: November 29, 2023, JeePee last year.
Five years ago today: November 29, 2019, pool, movies, $66.

Random years ago today: November 29, 2008, no end in sight.
It's 30F out there. I'm crawling back in the sack. Check in around noon. Not much warmer so the big doggie and I found a town on the pap and went for a drive. This was once a popular American hobby, I prefer by motorcycle, but that has limitations. The biggest limitis winter. Some may think it's old-fogie-ish to drive with my van window down but it's a motorcycle thing. We took the side roads to Norene, TV. It's a gas station and there is a postal station. So now Chooks can say he took a healthy one nearby. Chooks would not eat breakfast so he was hungry by now and the station sold pizza by the slice.
However, they were closing early and out of slices, so sold us the whole pizza for $5 bucks. Don't you dare tell the Reb, but Chooks got the pepperoni and cheese off two slices. It was piping hot on a cold, cold day, by golly, that hit the spot. And I lot the Garmin GPS due to millennialization. You see, autos these days have no way to set anything on the seat or dash that won't fall when you brake or turn. I had the Yeti beside me on the passenger seat listening to my murder mystey with the bank job when I had to tap the brake. First off the console was my GPS, followed by the 20 pound Yeti battery which smashed the glass. Am I finally rid of that garbage Garmin--and other millennial-era GPS units any better.
While returning from the trail in Norene, we crossing in front of the general store where a drop-dead gorgeous lady was tanking up. She instantly liked Chooks, which gave my expert eye the chance to check out the goods. Wow, perfect, and no foundation garments. Age, maybe 24, so I knew something like that was not unattached. Restored my faith, at least temporarily, in the survival of our race.
This creates a real pickle because the de Lorme does not have the scale to show the real side roads. We have to navigate by road signs and maps, but thanks to GPS, there aren't any. We wound up getting lost in that fiasco logjam of roads near Murfreesboro. So lot, it was soon getting dark. I drove toward the setting sun until I found something I recognized. The road to Smyrna, which I pronounce Smeer-nah with no accent. In addition to my dislike of night-driving, another problem came back. I once read the reason windshields are difficult to clean is because they form a slight layer of electrostatic dust that clings. Whatever it was today, it would not come off at all with rages, ammonia, vinegar or cleaner. I had to drive the last twenty miles slowing down on each oncoming vehicle with his lights too high.
I had stopped for cleaning supplies and next door I saw a set of real bronze mortise door latches with skeleton keys for $5 in the Goodwill. I went in and grabbed them finding a second matching set. And another Lewis Grizzard book I've never read. I'll catch up with you on that later, as I have an Ann Coulter book slated for the upcoming week. All of this better be taking place on the other side of the Appalachians because it is getting below my threshhold at night. It took me hours to get mobile today. It's a good thing the dog doesn't like cold any more than I do. What's this, Miss Universe is flooded with marriage proposals? It seems a video emerged of her using the N-word and the offers poured in. Over in what used to be Europe, such women are in very short supply.
The medical community has been accused of hiding COVID death facts, but the reports are too indirect as there are larger headlines. Such as the alleged $100K bounty hospitals took for each COVID death. Could it be true that these sudden deaths are not regular myocarditis, which is an inflammation of the middle layer of the heart muscle. Some are saying the hearts are bursting open inside the chest. If so, how could they possibly cover up that sort of thing? I'll wait for confirmation.
Slated for today, a quick study of the artesian wells so famous in Australia. We were taught that rainwater followed porous rock channels down from the eastern mountains. But no supply is infinite so I'm wondering if anything new has been discovered. The answer is not really. The area known as the Great Basin is layers of impermeable stone that later had ice age rivers that left layers of gravel, which were in turn covered by more sollid stone. It is these gravel channels that funnel the water deep underground. Of what I found, this Water Down Under had the most information. I best liked the relic steam engines around the 15 minute mark.
We learned in grade school how boring for this water would sooner or later cause a drop in pressure. It's happened. Around the 25 minute mark there is footage of capping and piping, the process of putting a lid on the wells so the water does not run unattended or evaporate before use. More informative is the Storyblock video of future plans similar to the Qattara Depression.
How is Delta Force getting along? Barely, although they have mentioned one casualty in Somalia. There are a few details of methods used to clear and scout buildings, naturally they can't say too much. The only surprise so far is the admission Delta Force does not take prisoners, explaining that just creates more hostage situations free them. By now, I'm just reading in the hopes the book will pick up, otherwise it is just a drawn-out training manual.

Most of this trip I planned on how I could make a life for JeePee. The Reb admits he does not get the attention he wants when I'm not around. He would certainly get that in Florida, but do turtles even care? I've trained him to know it is me by tickling the wind chimes by the door, but even that toek years. He does get a more varied diet because I never did trust that stuff from the pet store. I give him a spread and watch what he chooses best. The Reb says he never got chicken before and never gets his favorite fried chicken skins unless I'm in fown. I'm working on it, I would want him to have a far larger space to roam--but Florida must have turtle predators or the place would be overrun.
This would be a complete change of venue for the guy, who would quickly become a daily feature for the most part, a good listener, and handily the most famous turtle in Florida. That last item, famous, is based on research that the only other turtle of note in Florida is Virgil. But you will need scuba gear to interact with him.
We got home an hour after dark and Chooks, Mr. Pizza-Face, now will not look at regular dog food. He's upstair sleeping it off. When I got in, just the one guy was home, so I gave him the entire rest of the pizza. For the record, since last year he's gained 30 pounds, at least some of it due to my cooking. I mean, I can't really make half a pot of rice or grits, so he gets it or I have to put it into Tupperware (Reb's orders). It's plain he likes my cooking, but then, such foods always taste better when cooked by somebody else. He's in wonderment because he's wanted pizza for a week but around here you have to drive such a long way for it. He polished off 2/3 of a large likely thinking the Chooks and I had ESP or the like. I must say myself, it was one damn good pizza. Pepperoni & cheese.
Is there any news? I mean bloggable, not the TV kind. What's this, a Democrat (Hakeem) is saying they received bomb threats signed MAGA? Here's a list of the replies I liked best:
Well, they would say that, wouldn't they?
It's the FBI, that's their MO.
That doesn't work any more, Hakeem.
Fake--Democrats can't spell MAGA.
It's the Jessie Smollett ploy again.
Democrats claim a lot of things.
Canadian doctors now kill 25 times as many people as assault rifles. The last lawfare case against Trump is about to be dismissed. This is the case in Georgia which, among other things, charged Trump with forgery and impersonating a public officer.
ADDENDUM
I quit smoking so long ago I missed the anniversary. What brought this up is the amount of money saved in today's dollars. Technically, this has saved me $53,000, again today's dollars. When I quit 21 years ago, I had no immediate plans other than staying alive and I was never supposed to make it this far. You can read here how I systematically cashed in a load of my investments to stay afloat until 2011 when I dipped into my first retirement fund. I did not really invest in anything except some silver around 2012 and nothing again until December of 2022, when I determined that there were no really good Internet businesses you could start up that were not just buying yourself a job. I have not yet even monetized this blog. (But some version of that is coming.)
