Today I got a lot of thinking done. Nothing else to do when it’s this cold, but we did make a $60 sale. It that was every day, we could relax. It’s another generic retirement day. I filled the birdfeeders, cooked some rice, bought some hardware, and went way over to Kooter’s for a cold beer. Taylor was not there so I wrote letters to Hersh and Agtl M, and mapped out electrical wiring for the heater. I’m just going to rig up what works and deal with whatever later. Word is a major blizzard in the north, where people deserve it. It’s true, people who live where it gets deathly cold, they the think differently about how others should be forced to behave.
Call me the grouch, but not when it comes to the birdies. They got their favorite and I put out a special treat for the woodpeckers. I will not tame them, but the slightest noise I make, even walking across the yard, brings them swirling through the trees. I have a distinctive whistle I used to wake up JeePee and they seem to have conditioned to that as well. I sure miss the guy.
Nothing to report. It was as close to a day off as it gets. I did some shopping, including more reinforcing lag screws for the overhead heater. The ones that came with the mounding bracket just don’t look strong enough to my now-experienced eye. Then I wrote another letter or two. We trapped one little mouse, who is going for a ride tomorrow. That, folks, is the next installment on the declining spice of life once you hit the wall.
Here’s a clip of a pooch with electric ears. Best I can do this morning. Well, that and I made a big bowl of my favorite nutmeg porridge, which I suspect is the real cure for cold hands in the morning. If you are like me and wrap you hands around a hot coffee mug, try accompanying it with a helping of porridge. And buy the very best porridge you can, it makes a difference.
I drove through the south end, through downtown Mulberry. The old burned down Thrift is finally bulldozed. Florida is an anomaly as you can find both Thrifts and antique stores in the same block. The difference is twice the price. Due to Thrifts (the capitalization of that word is a reflex for me, so leave it), I own six drills. I don’t much change bits, I reach for another drill. That reminds me, I have retired the category for tools and materials for this cabin. The previous two years show the big purchases are probably over. That’s a budget I can now roll in with household expenses. Another category that’s flagging is books, but that may change as one of the materials expenses that do not really fit into household is the amounts I spend on my hobbies.
Since box-building dominates that category, I’ll include items like fasteners and hinges. It’s just to keep track more than to ride rein over.
Amish leather work suspenders.

The van radio was all politics. The Governor of Canada is stepping down, which is their term for clearing the hell out before they throw him out. Trump is infuriating the Democrats by announcing support of many of the most popular causes against the Left. That includes freeing the 1,000 J6 prisoners. The last thing the regime wants is their personal stories hitting the news. I believe these moves by Trump are calculated to make it all but impossible for the Left to manufacture some last-minute upset of his takeover. Clever. I call it Trump-Momentum.
New Jersey has dropped the requirement that school teachers need to be able to read and write. How they can focus on teaching Marxism, anti-Americanism, and gender confusion. Wish I had more for you today. I don’t. We did not have a band rehearsal today. I got maybe a half-hour of anything done. Which is not to say nothing was accomplished. I did buy materials, get a money order, mail letters, and make all today’s meals from scratch. That reminds me, pick up some raisins, I want to make oatmeal cookies later. I lost a lot of gumption when JeePee did not make it. I need more down time than ever.
