Yesteryear
One year ago today: September 26, 2024, he’s King of Boredom.
Five years ago today: September 26, 2020, testing software.
Nine years ago today: September 26, 2016, remember the 1610?
Random years ago today: September 26, 2014, 85% right.

We awake to two crises. I reach for my Jim Dandy, and there isn’t any. We got a month’s supply of all other basics, but no grits. I will make that right soon. I had to substitute cream of wheat, which is okay. But that’s like eating candy. The other news involves America. It may not be for the reasons they wanted, but a judge has finally been arrested. Harboring an illegal, and she was arresting on one of those “little laws” the left has slipped in over the years, intended for use on their enemies, not themselves.
I care not what happens to such people, but pay lots of attention to the principle. Note she was spared the CNN perp-walk. This signals a shift in Trump’s strategy. We guessed it here long ago, the Democrats planned a repeat of their 2016 and 2020 methods, that is, forcing Trump to contend with the small fry first. Then win by sheer weight of numbers. But Trump just nailed one of their top people and did it to the cheering of millions.
Finally, an arrest, any arrest. May this photo go viral. These are not judges, really. They are political Marxists appointees installed after a stolen election. And everybody knows it except the evidence deniers.

My reaction is to look up the Sun’s GP, it is 12:50:08 in England. Once more, this takes more practice than I thought. Today’s assumed Greenwich Hour Angle and declination were almost at 13.552°N by 13.64°W. This plunks us at a village in Senegal, the country that surrounds Gambia, which is along and narrow along a river. Population 500 must mean the whole district as a satellite peek shows maybe 30 small buildings.
And a school, which is the only mention of this settlement on-line. Seems they are famous for getting a loan to build two “gender separated” latrines to solve a sanitation problem it seems. Senegal is the old French colony with the port of Dakar. That’s the place Churchill ordered the attack on French Navy ships that were being eyed by the Germans.

I’ve finished reading “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn”. I suppose it has a happy ending if you are willing to believe a wealthy Senator showed up and proposed to Katie (now 40-ish), adopted her teenage children, and gave her a year’s wages as a wedding gift. Francine, our central figure, is now 16 and gets a free ride to college, making her glad she spend so much time reading Shakespeare. The last paragraph of the book reveals the tree, it is not the small one the kids planted on the balcony.
It is a tree that was cut down and burned because neighborhood women complained the branches tangled their sheets on the clotheslines. But the tree grew sideways for several feet and sprung up again. Here’s a photo of my linden tree (see below) after a few weeks doing much the same; it is already past waist high. As for the end of the story, I suppose the message is the way out of Brooklyn is a lucky streak for your ancestors.

Later, score a big one for the Trump voters who wanted blood. The airwaves are replete with the picture of that lady judge breaking down and blubbering like a baby as she’s booked in. The comments show no mercy, most people would like more Democrat judges to experience the receiving end. It’s a horrible spectacle for this tough-on-Republicans judge to be sniveling like a school-girl when the tables are turned. It is not helping their cause any, the way they applauded Trump’s arrest. His defiant mug shot is making a slight comeback.

Over coffee today, I read some articles detailing the lack of new startup companies selling shares. I spotted this trend around the time I first invested in Caltier. What swayed my decision was that Caltier was investing in the properties I myself would have chosen, knowing the risks. Yet the stats did not show a decline in overall activity. My conclusion was that companies were still starting, but not selling shares. I looked for that photo where I first saw the sugar cane fields near Okeechobee and could not believe my eyes. It’s in this blog somewhere.
Part of today’s interest follows that incident. That’s where I learned of Alfy & Pepe. If it sound Mafia, you are somewhat right. They are the Cuban billionaires who affect your daily life and you never heard of them. The Fanjuls, and the reason they are obscure while owning the wealthiest sugar monopoly in history. Florida Crystals, A&H, it’s ll the Fanjuls. You see, as Cubans, they know how to hide wealth—and the primary way is not to sell shares. They own the whole operation top to bottom and thus do not have to publish statements.

There’s more. In America, you don’t just struggle to get money, you must also struggle to keep it. That means politics, and the Fanjuls have a different approach than the lobbyists and PACs. When Castro took over, the Fanjuls bought land in the black mucklands of Okeechobee. In return for a monopoly, which is why Americans pay the world’s highest prices for sugar, the Fanjuls created a master plan—to control politics but remain friends with both sides. Here is how it works.
The Fanjuls will not contribute one penny to any party in an election. Instead, they let it be known that they will support whichever party wins. This leaves them out of the line of fire but able to survive almost any change of administration. And keeps the workings a complete secret. My theory is that since Trump’s first term, many other companies are seeing the wisdom of this approach. There may be a problem for the Fanjuls. Trump does not need their money.

Before you go on, here is a link to the actual Caltier blurb that first got my attention. It is the second paragraph of the right-hand column. Where it says “rents can be increased”. That is why I think Caltier is stupid as hell not to pay at least something out every month. A real estate company does not want their investors thinking they aren’t charging enough rent. At 7%, you need only around $30,000 to make that important $5 per day, I had seen Caltier pay that a while and I’m still hopeful.
I had partly chosen this “rental income” operation as a demonstration to several people about the value of getting to that $5 per day level. Caltier, if it misses April entirely, drops to less than half that. As you know, I am looking at other crowdfunding real estate beyond Caltier, not because they are doing anything wrong, but because they are not explaining what is happening.

Picture of the day.

Remember to use BACK ARROW to return to blog.

Missed it. Because I did not put my camera in a consistent spot, I have no pic of a beautiful female eagle near the birdbath. Long gone by the time I located my gear under a shirt on the sofa, scared by the way I was moving around. A wingspan of I’d guess three feet. Aha, this is a picture from a book, but that beak says this is the bird. A female bald eagle, but maybe not quite so big as this. Attracted by the birdbath. Possibly a juvenile. I’m going to rewire the bird misting array to overhead using a spare grid of driveway wire.
Slowly I’m beginning to suspect there is no reliable source of good fresh water in this immediate neighborhood. Why would such a large bird fly into a constricted area? This, on top of the squirrels, rodents, and Granny raccoon who has not been around in quite a few days. Here is the best closeup I’ll chance with these bees having a sip. They wait until dusk and like up rathr politely at the rim of the birdbath. I hope they are migrating as I don’t think I can let a colony establish in my relatively busy work area.

Gosh, didn’t the leftists say all the shelves would be empty and there would be widespread hunger in the USA? The tariffs were supposed to bring our economy to a halt. The market is soaring, prices are falling, and Democrat ratings are an all-time low, something like 19% among all voters, despite major attempts to bandwagon the numbers. The fake media is reduced to using old “television” tricks that fool nobody in the on-line world, such as comparing Trump’s overall rating (54%) against polls of only Democrat voters, where even then he is hovering at (40%).
Things are moving rapidly again. It’s not lost the polls are as likely to mention Trump as the are the Republicans. There is no longer any lag time between a hypocritical remark and the backlash. That is really hurting the left. I admit, to get timely news, I now regularly check the memes first. I’m also characteristically over-tired from most trips to Miami and have still not worked on the floor.

You may also see a shift back to the vacuum tubes, as I will soon begin the process of segregating the high value items with any eye to getting rid of the others. I have just the kind of boxes needed to store them very safely. And I can’t find my paper slicer. You know that big square green block with the handle that comes down. It’s not lost, but I need it to accurately slice the pizza carton cardboard for the next stage of learning. Lining the boxes with felt and stuff.

ADDENDUM
The new laws requiring medical operations to report results were flooding me with information. I am now receiving reports from my examinations last Wednesday. Page after page, the only ones I’m interested in are the back pains. As for my troublesome heart, take a peak at these two comparative readings just three years apart. This chart, following averages, should show a steady decline.
Instead, this represents a fairly remarkable recovery. And you wonder why I’m suddenly investing again and concerned that I had no plans at the ready. What if I live another ten years? I am not prepared for that in the sense that I have no intention to rely on externals.

It’s the back pain reports that are disconcerting to me. The pain in real enough, but these reports are full of the words “small”, “diffuse”, “no evidence”, and “unremarkable”. On top of that, the word “mild” appears eight times. Yeah, when I try to walk the doggie, I’ll show you mild.
