I had a Mars jackhammer landing marked on my calendar for today since way back. Yet I have not heard a thing all day. I hope the thing never went amok, because I’d never get another chance to use that word in a sentence. I’ll check tomorrow, maybe it’s going by some other name? My understanding is it would drill into the ground several feet to see what we’ve got for substratum. Or strike oil. I’m looking at fixing up my red shed rather than replace it. The main problem is the doors are falling off, but I’ve got the lumber to fix the whole front, or put new doors if it comes to that.
The idea is to avoid having to get a permit. Getting one has proven to be an expensive headache in the first place. So unless you want to see me moving furniture, let’s see if we have any leftover trip photos. Fortunately, I was able to backtrack on fumes to the last place, some twelve miles west of the Texas-Oklahoma border.
On the trip from Nashville last Saturday, I did not hit the frost line until well south of the Florida border. Which one? Florida only has one border, son. I punched in the air conditioning to find out it does not work. I bought some replacement fluid only to discover my nozzle doesn't work. This if par for the course.

I got a ton of work done on the house today, but mainly the plan is to make space in the front bedroom for music rehearsal. I promised the song list, the guy’s handle is Gator. The facts seem to be he lives in a community place for the winters, so practice over there is out. I had not planned on holding anything here, but it is clean, wired, insulated, soundproofed, and air conditioned, innit? I’m surprised the dude has made such a complete 180° since he first turned up his nose at the concept. Which raises questions in that he has still not confirmed he wants to play acoustic in a duo. Anyway, here are the tunes I picked from his list, with the keys. Notice that many are already on mine, cutting down on what I could do. Ah, the sacrifices of a bass player.

Upon getting into the chore, I see I will have to keep some tools and equipment in the same room, so the practice space is around 2/3 of the footprint, barely enough. While I intend to let him do as much singing as he wants, I have around another twenty tunes I can add if pressed. The impression I get from his e-mail is that we’d best get out gigging as soon as possible. He keeps asking if I have gigs lined up. Possibly he thinks the town is full of talent agencies and we just need book one.
I’ll set up the Gigrack and two smaller speakers for practice, but I intend to gig with my Fishman. My days of packing road gear are long gone. Pictures as soon as I find out what is going on with the Sony. I have it on EASUS data recover right now, but even that app cannot wake the dead.
