Yesteryear
One year ago today: August 22, 2019, he doesn’t stop whining.
Five years ago today: August 22, 2015, triangle-headed newsboy.
Nine years ago today: August 22, 2011, missing post.
Random years ago today: August 22, 2014, Google messes up, again.

How did I travel to Tennessee without my bass tuner? Told you I forgot something. This place is mostly shut down, other than restaurants there is not much we normally do on a weekend. Searching for a museum, only the most influential was open, the Andrew Jackson house. We thought of a drive-in (the Stardust in Waterton) but we could not get there until evening and we have a show at 8:00PM.
They call it chilly, I call it perfect weather. The dog walk was the big event, although th little one got a carriag ride home. Yes, he has a buggie and it is designed for doggies. Our meeting about drop-shipping was curtailed by the walk. Other than some minor apps I would have to learn, we have most of what we need to get something underway. But no decisions yet. Instead, help us find something to do. Today or tomorrow is okay.
We can turn an ordinary museum visit into a party, let that enter the equation. During my search I found they have a computer museum. It’s in Bletchley Park, over in England and the web page shows one of the original bombe machines, a precursor to the computer. They are a victim of COVID-19 so all I saw was the 3-D tour. Interesting, mind you.

[Author’s note: a bombe is a pre-computer contraption built to test trial combinations to crack messages coded by the German enigma machine. It’s workings are still to a degree classified, as spying is the only way the English could win wars after the year 1900. One of it’s settings centered on a daily report from a German outpost in the Qattara Depression in Egypt.
The station was there to watch if Montgomery tried an outflanking manouver, and every day it would transmit, “Nothing to report”, giving the bombe operators a valuable key. However, I suspect that is a fake story as the Germans are just not that dumb.]

We opted for Saturday night dinner at the Blue Turtle Marina. For a town with so many waterfront areas, there are not really any great restaurants on the shoreline. The marinas I play at a restaurants but they have a definite “barroom” atmosphere because, bottom line, they are nice places to drink. For a place to dine, however, choose the Blue Turtle. It’s as close as you’ll really get to classy and you may not be impressed.

It’s the best available, they even let you bring the dogs if you’re out on the floating patio. We were there a good hour, I tried the catfish. Um, yeah, okay, but it does not compete with the Catfish Grill on Beale Street. I think it’s the Blues City Cafe. I never memorized the name because it is the first corner location on Beale. The one I visited on my birthday in 2013. Here’s your pciture of the feast.
Two criticisms. They have coffee but no creamers. Who would put milk into perfectly good coffee? That is so gross, I opted for the diet coke shown here, my second helping this year. They have no malt vinebar but I won’t say anything. The second annoyance is their reservation system. I am an opponent of any “new” business procedure that is really just passing a cost on to the customer instead of absorbing what are, by normal standards, a business expense. And the Blue Turtle does not let you make reservations by phone, you have to physically be at the entrance and they call you. Our wait was 45 minutes.
Making us wait is acceptable, we could walk the dogs or something. But saying we had to wait near their doorstep in person? That is a type of cost.

It was not a semi-business meal just so we could write it off. Well, okay, a bit, I’ll own up to a bit. We would be moving a product, not a service. There was some vagueness on whether software is a service, I say it is best considered so. I am indifferent as to what product, for that matter I don’t consider it all that important because it is drop-shipped. There are not that many supply houses but they likely all offer the method.
The way I view it from the outside is that the variation in product isn’t that great. The difference is effective advertising. We have the complete mechanism to produce our own web pages, videos, music, and the all important picture of contented pets. I mean, they did get their own hamburger pattie at the marina, so yeah, they should appear to some degree satisfied. Served on real china. Here’s the Reb and Sammy having a “you first” contest.

ADDENDUM
I’m done reviewing the Democrat convention highlights. Those people have sunk to new lows and they evidently knew their plan to take over had no real defense against a populist opponent. They relied on twenty years of “politically correct” indoctrination to shield them from opposition. For years now the biggest greivance with American voters is that neither party made a campaign based on the issues that real people cared about. Jobs, crime, immigration, and a host of everyday concerns.
The serious issues have not been really on the table since the Reagan days. It now seems like a pattern of presidents they had planned for 2016 was, in their books, slated to be a woman regardless of morality, intellect, reputation, or intentions. Who else in their right mind would associate with a psycho like Hillary? You bet Trump is their mortal nemisis.

And they probably would have pulled it off except for Trump. I understood from day one why they viewed him as a demon, I lacked the depth of it all. First he defeats them, this time he will crush them. I would personally like to see around 50 of the top Democrats do some jail time. If only because it would preclude them from ever running for office again. They would suffer from their own rule about no criminal records. Lop off the head of the hydra and Trump will go down in history with the likes of Washington and Lincoln.
He’s doing the right thing quoting the intent of the Constitution and its amendments. The liberals want to change the Constitution by alleging the document is outdated and needs to be changed in their favor. My position is that far from needing changes, Consitution was specifically written to prevent people like them from ever getting into power.
