The squirrels are stopped and I put in a 7-1/4 hour day. At 1/8th speed mind you. Here’s a view of the scaffold and the ladder to get up onto the canopy. The plywood is all the pieces from around the yard chopped up to fit, so don’t expect it to look right until fully finished. It required two hours to remove the temporary roof. That sort of work is a real disincentive, but good news is it provided enough lumber for one layer.
A crossbreeze made conditions ideal so I carried on and laid out the materials for tomorrow’s phase. This includes moving some of the rafters shown here, which were placed out of alignment for various reasons. It’s hilarious to hear Tampa NPR report news that really hurts the narratives they keep pushing. Today, Wal*Mart announced the closing the last four of its stores in ethnic neighborhoods, admitting they have never made a profit there since opening 17 years ago.
Bud Lite is now officially “Queer Beer”. New York City deploys anti-crime robots without admitting they use facial recognition. The cops call them sitting ducks that will be quickly destroyed. Another device is a GPS sticker dart that allows a vehicle to be tracked. That’s presuming the driver doesn’t get out and check, since the thing is the size of a can of soda. I see mounting criticism of Mother Theresa. Some are convinced she let children die in her hospice as a means to get more donations. I find that unbelievable, but we’re not talking one or two reports here.
Is the answer to my difficulty walking long distances or inclines at hand? Or at foot, really, because here is a link to Moonwalkers. Reviewed here some time ago, they have not come down in price but that may not be the barrier it once was. The astute reader has detected already that the Reb & I have collaborated on investments all along and I’m hinting some are doing well. You know about Caltier only. Here’s a nice GIF from JZ’s coffee table. It’s symbolic of life after 55.

TURO. I would have to see how that dovetails with our existing insurance, which specifies they don’t want the vehicle used commercially. TURO seems to be from Australia and they advertise gross revenue annually for one car averages $10,000. To be blunt, that is not very much money, and that’s before deducting expenses. Another area of their website says owners average $500 per month, again that’s chickenfeed. But averages can be beat, our site is only 7 miles from the airport, and we get to say who rents. Over 40 European Christians preferred and if you don’t like it, go rent something else.
Talk about history repeating, it was less than an hour before I finally hauled out my old taxi spreadsheets from Venezuela. It will be easier to tweak those to match but I can tell you right now the apps supplied by TURO are going to lull a lot of people into thinking they are making money. Using up the equity in your vehicle is famous for fooling people like pizza drivers into thinking they are making a go of it.
On the other hand, much of the information TURO provides is accurate, even somewhat conservative. Even their success stories are making only $50,000 per year and that is operating six vehicles. Another item I am unclear about is how the customer gets the vehicle. TURBO hints they have sites near the big airports, but define “near”. I reject anybody coming to the house, so that means some way to get them from the airport to the car. I’m not keen on the Reb picking them up but that’s me. This is entirely her project, but it meshes with my recent mentions that the car is sitting there ready to go and losing money all the meanwhile.
But let’s get to the exciting part, my laundry deck canopy. There’s a good view of the upper surface showing the voluminous and constant effects of leaves falling year-round. If this was video, you’d see the blower in operation. This is the old roofing, where the lumber did not match at all. This time I’m making the attempt.
