August 13, 2025

Yesteryear
One year ago today: August 13, 2024, remember the 2025 agenda?
Five years ago today: August 13, 2020, my first “bench box”.
Nine years ago today: August 13, 2016, the Jethro font?
Random years ago today: August 13, 2002, probably Coral Gables.

Kodak, after 133 years of ripping us off, is about to go under. It was their outrageous behavior that, in my opinion, really got digital photography off the ground. A.I. is using viewing history as age verification. This means if I ever watch the Flintstones, I can’t log onto Rumble. Howie was over and he’s also hit with the wasp infestation. They seem to return to reoccupy dead nests, so I plan another assault by spray foam tonight. We found a total of eleven new nests—and I’ve been bitten again, confirming I have developed some kind of negative reaction.
This meant extra coffee which meant extra news. Ha, the Democrat party has been totally out-maneuvered by Trump. They went national y’day protesting Trump’s making the Capitol a safe city. That is a formula for losing voters. And incurring the wrath of millions. I mean, people take their kids to see the place, you’d expect it to be clean and safe. Trump has demolished 71 homeless camps with 2 remaining on notice till this weekend. I’m totally with the authorities on this one, these homeless people don’t need to set up where they cause maximum problems. Nothing wrong with being homeless in a ghost town in North Dakota.
And here’s a breaking item. The Democrats are in such bad denial, a group of them simultaneously announced that “crime is at a 30-year low” in DC, all within an hour of each other. This sort of tidal attack no longer works in the Internet era, the point here being one of the liars was head of some government statistics committee. That meant she lied to the public and was (unconfirmed yet) immediately arrested. You cannot do that, but it shows the arrogance these people have grown. The Democrats have not learned that such banzai or mass attacks do not work on Trump. Note, one of them was the Hildebeest herself. As if people don’t hate her enough already.

Hats off to the dude who wrote the app that amalgamates PERM ads. TMOR, PERM is the government rule that says a company can hire a foreigner if no American applies. So unscrupulous employers like MicroSoft and Google bury their job ads in secluded small-town newspapers where high-skilled people rarely even look. This app gathers the ads to a single board and has evoked screaming outrage—from India.
And an appeals court (sounds like a busy outfit) has ruled that against Democrat wishes, Trump does have the authority to cut billions in foreign aid even though the money was already approved by Congress. And two people protesting Trump’s sending troops into DC to fight crime were mugged walking back to their cars. Yes, they did call the police and don’t think it’s funny.

Picture of the day.
Clouds over Chicago.
Remember to use BACK ARROW to return to blog.

Just another heat wave. Nothing to report. I cut and framed part of the shelf supports for the front bedroom and marked out more lumber. Throwing in a load of laundry had me cleaning my roof valleys of falling leaves and twigs. It’s a never-ending chore. I have another linden tree sprouting by my kitchen window, and what can I say, they provide very welcome shade. The female red cardinal is half-tame to the back yard already. Let’s me know if the feeders get low.
Here’s a five-state record lightning strike that lasted seven seconds. That a new record. The length was over 500 miles, hence, five states. Here’s link to what the storms look like from satellites, sort of. These images are build up from stills. I do not know why they have that green color.
I played that “Sweet Blosson” tune a few more times, it’s pretty generic. Rather than customize a bass line (the original is faint and weak), I’m used the simple tactic of just varying a root—fifth bass to the parts of the tune, punching it up during the chorus. I ran the Hyundai for ten minutes to keep it healthy and ran the budget numbers for new tires on the KIA. That has to happen soon. I slapped together another tool box and oiled all my air equipment.

Turns out the DeWalt nailer is just that, it will not accept staples. But it will take nails much longer than I thought, looks like up to 3”. I can’t think of a situation where that would be used. The afternoon rain chased me inside, where I’m reading the chapters of “1421” that go over unexplained wrecks in Australia, Tasmania, South America, and unexplained items on Pacific Islands. That ranges from copper mines in Fiji and emerald rings in Samoa. The Chinese were not explorers, their mission was to bring new nations under the Tribute system. Impressively large as the ships were, they got sunk and abandoned at a prolific rate.
Meanwhite, the Trump troops are cleaning up DC. There is resistance but Americans generally recognize the homeless are mostly unemployed (and often unemployable) Democrats living off the system. So by fighting back, they humiliate themselves by demonstrating they are willing to get violent to be where they are not wanted and to fight for rights over things they don’t own. The MSM is embarrassing themselves trying to say there was no crime.

For the nth time, I was outside to see this famous Perseid meteor shower and saw nothing. Over time, I’ve see bits but never the big show. There was a slight haze tonight but the stars and planets were easily visible. After 15 minutes of waiting, nothing. I packed it in. The much-heralded Vulcan rocket has successfully launched a military satellite. You can tell because they emit radar beams, usually phased array. Since the retirement of the Saturn (that’s the Moon rocket), most of the heavy lifting has been the Atlas.
The Atlas launched all the Mars probes, it’s time-tested but costs around $160 million per launch. The Vulcan, using methane instead of kerosene, is around $110 million per mission. Three consecutive successful lift-offs to orbit is normally considered the minimum to rate a rocket design. In comparison, the Falcon (from SpaceX, kerosene fueled) has launched 97 times since January 1 this year.
