Yesteryear
One year ago today: October 22, 2025, hmmm. 8 minutes.
Five years ago today: October 22, 2021, pancakes again.
Nine years ago today: October 22, 2017, science fair.
Random years ago today: October 22, 2012, they’re losers, anyway.

According to Catholic doctrine, the Earth is 6030 years old today. No rest this morning, both neighbors cranked up machinery at 7:30AM and I think both the police and fire departments scheduled siren practice ten minutes later. I’m not complaining, there is another reason. After the workout on the dryer repair, I got a rare full 8 hours of sleep and I’m up today without the expected fatigue. One great outcome of the Internet is political grifters (so far 100% Democrats) are being exposed in almost real time. And where is the Wyoming pumpkin?
I was getting some work done by 9:00AM, and should be getting the KIA ready since I already know I will decide to make the trip to Tennessee. Quit fooling myself, I know I’m going to go. I see the movie “Battle of Britain” is next on my watch list. Will I hold up today, or get to watch some RAF flyboys crawl out or their Hurricanes wearing full dress uniforms with combat medals a-jingle?

Later in the morning, this picture captures a happy theme. Who puts a layer of poly over an empty beer bottle and a rusted cake pan? Somebody with surplus energy and the mind to wonder what might result. That’s correct, I kept a steady pace until noon without any accompanying side effects. Darn rights I’m pleased. Most of my yard shows the results of long term neglect, though I’ve addressed the worst. Today was what I’d call a normal day.

The dryer is shoved back into place, laundry is folded instead of just hung on a hook, and every older or weathered box in the place got a fresh coat of free polyurethane. Free from the weekend. Nope, these are not sanded and pampered between coats. Just protect that wood from crying out too much and cracking.
In other news, somebody went along my entire fence line and stole all the copper post caps. I’ll replace them but screw them into place. And set up the game cam, there are no teens or kids in this neighborhood. Macron, the French leader, actually stated that the pictures of riots and fires were A.I. fakes, what a moron. Because the world saw it happening in real time, not generated images. But his big mistake was implying Trump was lying about the participation of immigrants.

And Musk is back in the picture, although just how is not clear. But it must be significant, as the Democrats have threatened him already. Nobody has forgotten his DOGE assignment that got 250,000 government employees fired last year, most of them Democrat deadweight. My interest is that Musk has told them he will come after anybody who tries to use politics against him (known as weaponizing), and more to my surprise, has said he will not necessarily stop at the government methods these kingpins hide behind. That could be most interesting.
One more thing, is Musk how has experience dealing with lawfare. He knows well the value of a perfect alibi. They taught him. He’ll never do anything himself, but a Molotov cocktail through a window or two could be very therapeutic to the mentally deranged of our society.

I plan a nap and also what I will read to fall asleep. Today, I chose a deeper look into shift registers. They were a new technology when I was in university and tended to either scare or baffle students. I understood them to be “chopping blocks” that read in 8 bits “backwards” so when they came out they were forwards. At the time, I was learning programming, so I didn’t really deep-learn the chip. Now, over 50 years later, I’m taking a second look.

Remember to use BACK ARROW to return to blog.

That was the Reb calling, and you know I just do not believe that the guy she has ready to look after Chooks is up to the task. He’s well-meaning but I’ve seen nothing but ineptitude when things go even mildly wrong. He’s got money, but that doesn’t mean he won’t forget a prescription. It’s weird, while I don’t doubt his overall competence, I highly mistrust his incompetence. There’s a backup caregiver, but he has a day job and lives 35 miles away.
This “square” box got built this morning, another positive. It is stained with red cherry. I like this one though I’m not a fan of reddish stains. Another free sample, the cutting and joining time on this box is around twelve minutes in direct labor. Make no assumptions, because the indirect labor ranges from hauling the lumber from the store to the workbench, and the correct size nails don’t get into the air gun by themselves.

No way I will let what I like affect good planning, and fence wood or not, most any stain makes the wood look “more expensive”. I’m shying away from dunking because of the challenges of storing the stain between usages. That brings spraying back into focus, unless you can think of any other way. The box decoration is what adds so much time I am now at the eight-hour mark and will stop any physical exertion to see if I’m over some kind of hump. I honestly feel fine but this gets treated no differently than any other stage of this mending. It all has a schedule of its own, don’t mess with it. This is day 266.

Hours later, I report a good day, relatively speaking. (Watch that qualification.) I still required a nap, but it was invigorating. I was back outside tidying up the yard and moving the sleeping foam into the KIA. I set the game camera up to face the raccoon haunt again and ran everything loose through the laundry whether it needed it or not. I cleared with the neighbor to keep an eye on things if I head out, and here is one of two boxes I slapped together in no time.
Why, it is an idiot box. Except this one is certified. I found a website of these obviously-A.I.’d junk photos and here is the result. For your admiration, after all, what other blog is going to present you such home-spun material? I was so satisfied with today, I baked a whole tray of banana nut muffins (from a mix) and had six of them for supper. Yes, I added an egg and a dash of cinnamon.
I did not do a coffee run y’day and I’m out of K-cups. Most coffee drinkers know the selection at the grocery is really just two or three parent companies, but I still have my favorites and I’m out. Plus, my muffins came out slightly overdone because my oven mitts were in the dryer. Blog-worthy? Yes, in the sense these are signals that life may be gaining a little normalcy again.

ADDENDUM
Wow, it’s already taken down but I saw that South African father empty two clips into three carjackers. All three are dead, the news is not this typical third world scenario, but that the regime said it did not happen because Blacks “are not allowed” in White areas at night. Mind you, I did say in 1970 that any system that allows such inequities to exist between the rich and the poor will always have very full jails. Too many people think real poverty is relative and anybody can work their way out of it.
As they said in the old days, it is a little too quiet out there. No real electioneering from the far left means something else is cooking. The word on the street is vote Red and be ready for what follows. Most predictions are that a Democrat loss will result in huge riots and government obstructions, aimed at getting Trump to declare martial law.

I see various flaws with that, the first being that the military is no longer woketard and would likely arrest any faction that tried to go there. These riots are largely staged and heavily dependent on hired help—remember the license plates and white-washed busses? These are professional paid agitators imported for the purpose, very expensive. The Democrats are out of money and are dependent on their media to inflate their cause and numbers. They are, it seems, also relying on their traditional methods of stealing votes. And this time, they will likely find people waiting for them.
