One year ago today: October 5, 2025, pets take extra.
Five years ago today: October 5, 2021, Windows is spyware.
Nine years ago today: October 5, 2017, a thousand miles.
Random years ago today: October 5, 2006, this blog goes on-line.
I was up early and sorted pictures. I have tens of thousands with no filing system, although they are 99% jpegs that attach some dates when first saved. Having no other plans, I spent several hours at least trying to organize them by dates. By the folder dates, I can tell how many photos were “held” for this blog, not how many eventually get posted. Guess how many I found that did not make the grade? It’s 88,313. I try to avoid repeats but these numbers are overwhelming.
The best I could manage is each month all those pictures are place in a file, but no individual dates. And sometimes I forget, so that is what I was doing. Finding wildly mis-categorized material everywhere. In the long-run, there is a pattern and that is good enough for me. I care not if other people die in obscurity, I think posting the pictures at least gives me shot at a lasting legacy. That’s blog evolution for you.
Here is the 3:15 sandwich in the making. I cannot compete with the Mitchburger for calories or bulk, so opt for a healthier mix of greens and cheese. Why 3:15? Because it is modeled on a medionoche (midnight) and it is 3:15. Which I have to shorten to 315 because MicroSoft did not listen to my warning about abusing punctuation back in the 70s. This poor man’s Cuban is made with baloney.
So are the new Samsung phones. They’ve bowed to Google and let the snoopers take over everything. After an hour, I cannot get the voice-to-text working. I’ve stepped every menu and done the factory reset. The buttons and icons are still present, but they are screwed. Here is a quick video of salvaging the dryer belt this morning. The event was how I am operating at the same enhanced energy as last afternoon. I doubt this is any turning point in my recovery, but I can hope.
Closing this year’s books (about twenty minutes a day effort) reveals a pressing need for investment—but I’m past the age window. Forget speculation, gold for example fell 26% this year (from $5,595 to $4,160) and who can’t do better than that. There is a serious crisis looming here, but I’m also aware how little it would take, with the logistics system I have set up, to make sure I’m not caught up like the majority will be. Inflation will not peak until middle of 2027 (historical incubation period). Stay with us, I know something has to come up.
Today began with the elevated energy level from y’day, though I’m still cautious. I took an hour to review some Croce hits. My gal at that time (Sweet Judy) loved his music, but I was still in Beatles mode. Keeping up with trends was far beyond my resources and I had not finished learning the good stuff. But now I hear Croce as beginner’s guitar, but also extremely well presented.
All predictable chord changes, I can play right along to him without really trying. It’s his themes and lyrics that I’m finally hearing fifty years later and he was, if you ask me, a guaranteed success in 1974. The two tunes picked above the rest are “Leroy Brown” and “Car Wash Blues”. “Operator” has slipped.
SpaceX quality control.

It looks like Caltier gets a small reprieve, as this time I was going to read Smith the Riot Act. His delays are about to cause use contractual difficulties and we cannot have that without a bitter fight. I used the nice day and clime to get the belt off the dead dryer. I made a mistake on this one, due to my inexperience. If I had opened the other dryer first, I would have repaired that and junked the Kenmore. It had better quality everything. And, what looks like an excellent and powerful motor—except I can’t get it off the bracket.
his upside-down pic shows the motor is very high quality, if you know what to look for. But I can’t tell if it is 110 or 220. Many of these dryers only use 220 for the heating element. Anyway, the reason for the Caltier delay is the Reb got some flooding in Tennessee. She’s dealing with it on her own, and that, peeps, I s once major reason she shines above every other women I met in my life. Don’t get me wrong, but let me tell you I’ve met some helpless specimens.
Something is absent in the run-up to these mid-terms. Where are the million of dollars in expensive Democrat advertising and smear campaigns. It’s only the mid-terms, but this will be a desperate loss for somebody. Trump can be excused because he can fill stadiums past capacity just by showing up. But money wins American elections and the Democrats should be setting records, considering how far they are behind. Granted, their NGO kickbacks have been curtailed, but that only explains the lack of paid agitators and bussed in pro rioters. What’s eerie is not that Trump has hundreds of millions to fight with, he has not really spent any of it. Yet, and yes, I know what time it is.
We know who isn’t partying. Who warned you this real estate bust would be the worst ever? There is no 2006-style bail-out. No bank rescue, they’ve been to the well too often. As of last month, over 40% of all houses are taking price cuts. In Colorado and Oregon it is already over 50%. Interest rates are up. The real problem is price. A beautiful house in the USA shoud not cost more than $100.000.
The Reb called for a report, I voted that she establish a backup plan. She had some promotional ideas in mind that I do not understand. What I do manage well is money, so she is to get me a cost estimate. Interesting she sees it as a continuum, but I see it as a clean break and a fresh start. I’ve allocated $8,350 to get things underway. This has no connection to the blog.
My [newly found] energy remains (perceptively) at 50% of pre-op levels. I didn’t celebrate.rather watched the news that interests me. Paris has fallen, the immigrants are openly setting people on fire. England is cordoning off White people to bus in Africans and the White people stand there. Inflation in Tehran is around 70% (annual rate) and they are soon out of oil revenue for the first time in modern history. If Brazil goes right-wing, it means every nation in S. America has done so just months after USAID was cut. Coincidence, we are assured.
US Army recruitment ads are again featuring only White men. Obama has begun retaining criminal defense lawyers, as many as nine is the rumor, pending investigations into what really happened to the planeload of money he sent Iran. DHS has just bought three prisons in California with capacity for 5,000 illegals at a time. Pallets of food rot in the sun in Gaza as HAMAS blocks distribution.
It looks like youTube is hit with dozens of videos of people who lost everything, but this round has a difference. You see, I identify with the harrowing stories of the ones who really tried and still lost. Is there some trend over this I missed, why so many at once? Trust me, I know what it is like to try reading a book with a brute glaring at you knowing every passing minute that he is not reading he is falling behind. But he will not read, just that glare, that venom. year in and year out. Is there some new movie out on this theme?
ADDENDUM
Addressing [the new situation whereby] this blog as now a little too free, the Reb & I talked about the options to make it commercial. We've discussed it before, but there was no A.I. then. It is felt such interests are already abusing the privilege. One idea is to split the blog into two. This raises a familiar situation, she is the only person I know who has any exposure to A.I. writing. So much for today’s uber-users, what a pack of jokers. The topic today was how to give the system a try without a commitment. A sensible, useful free trial. It may not exist.
I’m paying attention and it seems most of users are authors or similar. That is hardly a threat to Joe Average. Unless he’s a typesetter still. This A.I. could be just another dot-com bubble on the way. Everybody looking for TNBT (the next big thing, Ken) is totally into A.I., where I say the only result that matters is people’s reaction. And I have notice before most that people tend to prefer the A.I. written versions only if they have not been told it is A.I. Hmmm.
One concept already kicking around here is to have A.I. go through this blog and pick out any one recurring theme. Say motorcycle travels, or my views on women, and make a single plot into a booklet or something. It would require A.I. to find out every mention of, say bass playing.
