One year ago today: July 28, 2020, Forex = very risky.
Five years ago today: July 28, 2016, or somebody they can’t buy . . .
Nine years ago today: July 28, 2012, indescribably good juice.
Random years ago today: July 28, 2010, sometimes Logitech sucks.

Off to a late start, I arrived in Brookesville just past noon. Sometimes you cannot avoid the Florida idiot drivers. I tried, avoiding the short route through downtown Lakeland. I went way over to Plant City. I always liked that area but the economy is solid and house prices remained high throughout. Remind me to ake a Saturday off and walk around the downtown. It’s one big historic district and I’ve been there like once.

Everybody should get out for ethnic food, so I went to the Cracker Cafe. Yes, the one I’ve raved about before. Did I say ethnic? You bet, there is somebthing about getting far away from south central Florida and being sered by slim, white, blonde, blue-eued, sexy high school gals (all over 18 of course), smiling, bright, cheerful, and English-speaking. I had the fries and gravy. My change came in something I’ve not seen in decades. New two-dollar bills, consecutive serial numbers. Here is a picture of an old log cabin. This wil later turn out to be the only interesting thing to see in Ozark, Alabama.

It took two and a half hours to make the first 94 miles. I used the time to mull over the business propositions that will rise to the top when i get to my destination. There are two items on the table. You know about the publishing, but as a backup, there is another option relatively new to th emarket. The web page business is saturated, I saw that coming 25 years ago. I did not like the early days. You could not get a strraight answer on prices and that got sticky because often you could not know everything that was needed or that requirements would not change Stay with me here, because the dlincher is that you were selling the webpages.
Somebody seems to have come up with the concept of renting the space. That’s new on several counts. I read the comments and it seems most people are not that cognizant of what that could mean. I ran the numbers and call it the “strip mall” concept, a way to lower th eprice to temporary or seasonal businesses and lower overall costs. Since I know the ropes, I’ll be lookign at the offer. They imply they have clinets lined up but you know how these millennials lie.

I found my comfort zone pretty quickly in Tallahassee. It’s easy because I look and act like being on campus is my natural element. I found a university in the south end. And since it was after 5:00PM, I stole the biology professor’s parking spot. (Yes, Ken, that noun is a possessive.) The library is still a hike and on the second floor, so you get a little cardio finding the place. Why a university? Allow me to explain. The place is clean, quiet, airconditioned, and usually has a cheap cafeteria. Also, the library washrooms are spotless and I’ll tell you a fact some may find offensive. But those people should be at home, vaccinated and wearing a face diaper. It’s a trick of the trade, find a campus that has a large non-white student base and located the research section. Hey look, there’s my van down there, third from bottom on the right.
That means, every time so far, you will not ony have peace and quiet, you may find you have the entire area to yourself. I’ve piled up enough untouched books to build a fort and catch an hour’s nap. If you want a guarantee nobody will find, locate the usually over-sized Hebrew history area. Trust me, no minority has ever read any of those books and you will have solitude.

It was light enough I was tempted to travel on the Bainbridge. Instead I found a Donut Kingdom and stopped in for nearly two hours. I was later to find out there are many of these in the area, but I thought it was a novelty. Met a gal there who plays cello, she says this is a university town all over. I noticed as i drove down Tennessee street the number of small pubs, so that makes sense. Nothing with entertainment, but I’m in the mood for a Budweiser, so you go on ahead, I’ll catch up. For the record, I did find two other libraries in the area, but they close at 6:00PM. It’s the same old story, libraries funded by working people’s taxes that are only open during the hours they have to work.
This is the maiden voyage for the 12V cooler and so far it does the job. But plan to line the base with freeze packs if you want things chilled instead of just cooled. I’ve decided to spring for the $1,000 lithium power pack. If it will run an A/C overnight, it will be worth it. If not, I’ve lived for years in Venezuela with just a ceiling fan. One of those portable A/C thingees, I mean, or like they install on the roof. I could go for that.

Later, I found a Bullwhinkles, always a great place to hang with the college crowd. But no parking, so I opted for for the Poor House next door. It as okay but no atmosphere and I could hear the music and noise where I wanted to be. I set my phone on data to download a few pictures and now everybody thinks I’m goin to start texting. Wrong, using my phone for data is temporary. Tallahassee is a somewhat nicer place than I imagined. How many universities and colleges, I don’t know but the average age in the clubs seems to be under 25. I was also surprised by the number of establishments featuring classic (old) country music.
