Yesteryear
One year ago today: August 27, 2020, American hotels, all Mafia.
Five years ago today: August 27, 2016, love a full stove.
Nine years ago today: August 27, 2012, I settled on “BatBike”.
Random years ago today: August 27, 2007, an early look at CSS.

Okay, back to the drawing board. Google and MicroSoft, the dastardly duo, knocked out my work computer. It was a calculated risk, I needed to move on with the publishing software. The unit can be redone, I have the original installation disk out in the shed somewhere. Worst, Google weakened my defenses enough that MicroSoft somehow got in and force-downloaded all their fake “updates”. This took out most of my capabilities to produce videos and record. For example, I cannot re-enable ATAPI on my version of Audacity. That means most of today is taken up configuring the back up computer and getting this one back on track.
It’s as if these companies think they can defeat anyone determined to work around their ridiculous policies. You know what I have against MicroSoft, but Google is a different animal. We knew from day one they were anti-privacy and acted accordingly. I’d consider using some of Google if they would get off my computer and let me look after my own security. It’s plain Google never anticipated people such as myself who created a ton of phony accounts back in the 90s and are still using them. Their new policy of cancelling old accounts won’t work either.

This photo is the best I have on “Cody”. This is the dog we rescued after the movies. He was lost and confused. I had to stop traffic as he was wondering back and forth over the road. This kept me busy so I did not get video of how the Reb communicated with him from forty feet away, then got him to obediently walk to her and sit while she checked his collar. Ha-ha, collar ID.
At that point, I opened the back car door and pointed. Good guess, he knew exactly what he was supposed to do. Once inside, he was a happy critter, more like overjoyed. Here he is, beside the Reb, watching his owner show up five minutes later. Now the dog didn’t want to leave. Quite the scene, but no video. We had been chatting in the car just before, noticing how every new Democrat setback was accompanied by a new COVID variant. The way it is going, Trump announcing candidacy will create the worst variant yet.

Here’s trivia. At this time, there is no real estate for sale on Pitcairn Island. It’s weird, because the government will give you free land if you move there with money. They have a separate tax structure for those who fall for it, beware that government advertising does not mention this tax, other than a $500 tax to apply for residency. Pitcairn is part of a small island group that are the only British “overseas dependencies” in the entire Pacific Ocean. I guess they are still sore about that incident with the Bounty. Not the mutineers, but the fact they burned the ship. There are currently 50 inhabitants, with plans to allow an increase to 80, by enticing foreigners to arrive and build a house.
All materials and labor must be brought in by a boat (the Claymore II), which visits every three months or so. Cost of the house is around $120,000 US, the island uses New Zealand currency. They had to shut down a website due to countless inquiries from illegal immigrants in England trying to get their hands on a British passport. I looked at this information after a private island came up for sale in Tonga for under $250,000. That is what I would have bought by now had my career not ended in 2003.
We are talking real estate for a reason. There would be instant violence if the government ever tried to take away anybody’s house. Most Americans would not stand for that. Biden has to pay his bills somehow. He’s got his patrons who want their favors and kickbacks and now he’s faced with mass evictions, loss of face, a grumbling military, and the very people he counts on for his voter base are facing mass evictions. Something has to give and many, such as myself, no longer believe there is any chance of a peaceful, negotiated solution.

Now I’m behind in my work. Another long phone session, which must have been worthwhile, since you know how I dislike talking on the phone. The topic was the extended lack of anything to invest in while the creepy takeover of the system makes it iffy to keep money in the bank. How to preserve capital, and it is not just a problem of the rich. As I mentioned, by the Bernie-definition, I would be rocketed into the highest tax bracket of the land. So, what have I been looking at in terms of what’s realistic? Ken, stay with me on this one and learn something, meanwhile relish this view of the dash of my van. Do you know the best type of van? Easy, the one that actually gets used to travel around when you get older.
Gold and silver are too hard to deal in for most people. What you need is hard currency in smaller batches on a regular basis. This leaves almost nothing for most people to invest in, and any large amount of cash has been suspect in America for many years since the Democrats wiped out the middle class. Oh, they still exist, just up to their eyeballs in debt to pretend they have it all. So, what is my solution? It’s swayed by what happens in September. If I can muster the cash, my thinking is to get another livable property. This is nothing new, I’ve always considered owning a second property to live off the rent. In this case, I’d live in it and rent this house, as the local rate means I could charge a thousand a month and still be the best deal in this county.

I emphasize this is only a plan, the discussion was on how it would be implemented. It is an alternative other plans, as I can only afford one investment at a time. It is also why I search the cheapest house on the market monthly. I’ve found one, but just out of my price range. It depends if the guy wants to negotiate, the thing is, he is desperate for a big chunk of a down payment, more than most people ever have lying around. However, as things go for people who know how to keep a budget, a vaguely familiar situation happening. Remember how I bought this place for what I expecting to be just a down payment?
Recall I’ve said how I kept paying myself “the rent” that was formerly going down the tubes? I now have around half what I was planning on another down payment. And that is the amount the guy wants [for the entire land and building]. Did lightning just strike twice? It is on it’s own land, a mobile home, two bedroom, and not too far from Wal*mart. You must not think in terms of buying and renting out, I’m way past that stage. Renters are a hassle and it was the landlords who took the bath with the eviction moratorium. A lot of renters who could pay took advantage of that—but nowadays they can and will be blacklisted. Would you rent to somebody who pulled that stunt?

It’s a mobile home with the land. I’ve not done a drive-by but it has been trashed by tenants. I need to see the neighborhood. There is no visible structural damage, just evidence of kids wrecking everything. If it stops raining, I’ll go for a peek. Later, nope, I needed at least another day down time. With that goes paying more attention to the news from all angles. The Australian near-revolt has disappeared from American media. Biden’s pathetic answers are being edited to meaninglessness, some 380-lb. slob from Illinois is lecturing kids how to stay healthy, and some stats cut back to weekly COVID news as people ignore the daily reports.
We got treated to Biden & Harris laughing about Afghanistan which shows very poor judgment. It’s a shameful disgrace to hear them try to pin the blame on others. If there is a positive outcome, it is that ever time they speak and even lower IQ segment begins to recognize the lies. How Biden officials refer to the horror show at the Babul airport as, “the withdrawal” and go on that most Americans support “the withdrawal”. Hell, the withdrawal isn’t the problem, and I suspect most Americans have supported a withdrawal for the past twenty years. How about that Canadian who urged the Taliban to go easy on the queers. Drop them from lower helicopters I think he means.
It’s wise to remember the words from Tommy’s Garage, that we should give the Taliban some credit. After all, they kicked out an evil government that forces people to wear face coverings, topples statues, and genitally mutilates children.

ADDENDUM
The shameful event of the century, the sleazy mainstream media glorifying the black cop who murdered an unarmed white lady. He revealed himself, it was not a requirement under the Biden reign of terror. NBC immediately portrayed him as the real victim and he bragged that he had “saved a lot of lives”. The whole woke radical left is collapsing under this form of hypocrisy. Experience tells me it will get a lot worse before the former middle class gets fired up enough to do anything while they are still a majority. There are countless unanswered questions and maybe it is time to quit using the phrase, “the federal government”. So as to distinguish government from what is happening in DC.
So, the Supreme Court says no more eviction moratoriums. This could shake things up, the free ride is over. People who were supporting Biden just to keep a roof over their heads may now have to deal with the monster they created. Maybe a few more of them living in the streets will change their mind about who they listen to. And did you know, the group with the highest ratio of “vaccine refusers” are people with PhDs.

And have you heard? I hope it is a joke, but American comic book heroes are about to become social justice warriors. Rumor is Superman will step down to make way for his son, Jonathan. I did not know he had a son. The lack of phone booths being what it is, he will come out of a closet wearing the cape and tights. No word yet about the high heels. How about that Irish cop who publicly handcuffed a porn star to his squad ccar and did her in public? He was fired but reinstated. The porn star was set free on the spot without so much as a warning, police culture being what it is. Maybe culture isn't the best word.
I’m also totally glad to hear that being dropped or censored by Big Tech is no longer the death sentence for social sites that it once was. Biden shills have claimed half of all children 12 to 17 in the US have been vaccinated, a claim that is outrageously false. The old “everybody’s doing it” scam just doesn’t fly in an instant world but these liberals just don’t know any better. As for people who post they lost their job for not getting the vaccine, just how useless were you in the first place?
