August 6, 2021

Yesteryear
One year ago today: August 6, 2020, silver false alarm.
Five years ago today: August 6, 2016, 6:58AM.
Nine years ago today: August 6, 2012, late by 40+ years.
Random years ago today: August 6, 2017, pretty lousy, actually.

That was a score, I got not just a computer. It was brand new in the box, stamped refurbished, but it’s like new. Included was a mouse and a keyboard the literature described as “stylish”. When it comes to your keyboard appeal, it would seem they don’t want you to fall behind. It’s a small form factor and if I’ve done my homework, will prove ideal as a publishing workstation. Normally I avoid computers with a special power supply but this puppy has 11 USB ports, and HDMI, and built in WiFi. I have hopes for it. I will likely switch to Bluetooth keys and mouse.
Buying this took me deeper into the area northwest of Nashville than ever. It’s a nice open area, forested, and quiet. But like most American towns, the commute is one hellacioius ordeal for the simple reason they will not ban the 5% of bad drivers who cause 95% of the problems. I was lucky, there and back in 50 minutes. Only to find little Lilli in isolation. She spend hours trying to get out of the carrier, poor tyke. But she’s still got the woozies and cats don’t show long slow pain very well.

We canceled dinner plans to keep an eye on her and later the Reb was out to a fundraiser.. I used the timeto get all the noisy things done, including a big load of Goodwill donations from that shed. I got a not from the Kaiser, he’s playing in an open-air market downtown late this afternoon, so maybe I’ll have something livelier to post. Face it, other than music, this blog takes on many aspects of a retirement documentary. Could be because I finally retired?
In national news, the Democrats continue to take drastic measures to consolidate their shakey grip on power that can no longer be claimied as legitimate. Things are closing in from all sides and their sole defense is ever stricter vaccine and mask laws, with a weakening case over their totally fake “insurrection”. Also. Poland is taking a stand against the EU over terrorist immigration. It’s great watching him put down the libtards who ask him to care for potential suicide bombers over his own countrymen.

Here’s why you always check your zoning before buying. One of the most scumbag of industries in the USA is real estate. A couple years ago the townhouse you see in the far right beckground being built, you see it is now complete. I had noted the area around back was a bit to wide to be just left to greenery. Now, to be fair, they did not say the other building had these sweeping view, but you can bet your ass that was silently emphasized during the entire selling process. Well, they had a view for almost two years.

This next row of housing is now going up, blocking that view. And just because this parking lot is presently the last open space to the marina, don’t be fooled. Thre is ferocious competition for zoning committee jobs for this reason. Real estate is very much buyer beware, if you don’t ask, they are under no obligation to come forward with the information.
Late this afternoon the Reb held a dumb supper for her dad, who passed away in June. This is a spiritual (some say pagan) event, in which dumb means silent. It is held in respect of the person who cannot be present. This was a beautiful ceremony with only the closest of the inner circle. I looked after the house for her parents for four years back in the early 1990s and we shared a lot o anecdotes. He was an engineer, but had a hobby interest in warfare. My studies was only the weapons and usage, he had seen many of them first hand.
Here is his place setting, this view was taken the following day. The The supper was held by candlelight with Robyn playing the flute. Her father was immensely proud of her musical ability and she wrote a song the last time they were together. All agreed that music should be shared, if you ever hear the music “Strawberry Moon & Blackberry Sky”, this is in memory of a truly accomplished gentleman whom i admired.
