One year ago today: December 6, 2023, remember .22 shorts?
Five years ago today: December 6, 2019, food?
Nine years ago today: December 6, 2015, shoes, meet-ups, 18v.
Random years ago today: December 6, 2010, them's diatoms.
December is not a big month for me, never has been. I had the tree limbs trimmed once and I still propose the 22nd as Martin Shkreli Day. The original new American hero who fought the system. He lost, but at least he tried. Let's check the news as JeePee and I enjoy an extended breakfast of grilled sandwiches, including grilled blackberry jam. As soon as it's warm, he's out to the shed to bask in real sunlight. Today he gets a small one-bedroom over by the shady north fence. Yes, Eatmore, wherever you are today, we remembered tomorrow is your birthday. I knew I would never forget you and now it has been fifty years since I saw you last. If I was wise, I'd write you a letter. If I was even wiser, I'd take nothing new on before middle of 2025.
Here's a peek at JeePee further in the day, on his observation deck. Rather than a big project that would take longer, we've opted to provide a cottage. Sized to fit on the outdoor shelving behind the laundry deck, where he is visible every time you use the bathroom. It's also in line with the shade temperature gauge. There is no danger of him freezing, the goal is to keep the temperature within the range where he won't go into hibernation. So I may opt for and infrared heat lamp to be on the safe side.
So what got past my filters? The next Canadian idiot wants to send all the guns they confiscated to the Ukraine. That would be fun, watching the Ukes with a haphazard collection of 324 different-caliber hunting rifles trying to take on the Russian army. I believe the list includes crossbows, so Trudeau-boy is really worried about something. The Biden admin is considering “pre-emptive” pardons for their worst traitors before Trump is inaugurated. Trump, on leaving office, did not pardon anyone. The media tried to twist that into saying Trump “failed” to pardon their lackeys. As more states seek to block land ownership by the Chinese Communists, the follow-on question is who gets this land after? The authorities in North Carolina stole $45,000 worth of generators that had been donated to disabled flood victims. Just came in the night and loaded them up. Myocarditis, where the middle layer of the heart muscle bursts open, has never occurred in a non-vaccinated child. There is a video about the Human Meat Project (no link), a society that promotes recycling human flesh for food along the same lines as leaving one's organs to hospitals.
For the remainder of this morning, JeePee and I will design a new spreadsheet that simplifies the way banks deal with CDs. It requires nine columns to separate out the details of what you need to know about investing in CDs. Before this data was co-mingled with my saving account, which is where the CDs come from, but that does not supply the data you need to maximize your return, which is the goal of such investments. I conclude the bank statements are designed to make the easiest path for you is rolling the CD over. It's a sucker job, as the new interest rate will be half the old one, we already talked about this.
Snow and cactus.

Here's a shot of the work in process on JeePee's cottage. It will differ from the terrarium in that there is direct exposure to the outside climate. The floor is wood, not paper covered glass., but I will line it with something easy to clean. The first picture is the basic carcass of the the 32” wide cage. The width and height are diminished to save weight. His terrarium was in the same spot for the last seven years that I know of. It had to be cleaned from the top because it was too heavy to move. I will add a light-weight cave on one end. This keeps the design modular if I want to add on, but just small enough to remain portable. It will fit in the van without a struggle.
The wire cloth completely surrounds the interior. Turtle can easily gnaw through wood, but it takes quite a while. This way, he would encounter metal as it forms a full inner casing without any wire edges showing. If you read back far enough you would find this structure closely resembles his outdoor cage in Tennessee. That design proved highly successful and it was a much needed distraction for the little guy.
What now? The Democrats are convinced they can sabotage Trump like they did in 2016. They are so sure they can make his term a flop that guess who they are now spouting as their candidate for 2028? Newsome, the California relative of Pelosi who only barely managed to avoid a recall by counting the votes in private. They might be crazy, but the hype is that he has the youth, the looks, the experience, the charm, the track record, the popularity—basically all the things they said Kamala Harris had before she was handed her ass at the ballot box. The radio all afternoon was how fantastic Newsome has become. It was fitting that the background music showed there have not been any major new Xmas carols written in a hundred years.
That's a good one, the CEO of United Health Care, famous for cutting off people's treatment, is shot by a professional. The suspect fled the scene on bicycle, entered a bus depot and never came out, they say. I say otherwise, it was well-prepared and he had a disguise waiting. Or was it even a he? Get ready for all the jokes that said CEO “died suddenly”. News out of North Carolina is three people were found frozen to death in a tent as Biden sends billions overseas. Biden is signing blanket pardons for people who have not yet been charged with any crimes. People are wishfully posting pictures of other CEOs.
With 45 days to Trump's return, out come the new viruses and attacks on his appointees. The European Space Agency has launched to rockets with unusual payloads designed to keep two satellites in perfect sync. The issue is that studying the Sun's corolla or is it carona is difficult because the glow of the Sun itself is so bright. The experiment here is to used on satellite 500 feet away from the other to blot out the Sun in emulation of an eclipse, giving the researches hours of study instead of minutes. In fact, the scheduled life of the mission could provide 1,000 hours of darkness. Interesting as hell. The mission, I mean, I don't study the Sun except to calculate its position once in a while.
ADDENDUM
A letter (e-mail) arrives from Texas, Bryne rode his motorcycle 40 miles, no mean feat in the weather on that side of the Gulf. Like myself, he reports slowing down but never losing an eye for a bit of skirt. Also like myself, the supply of good ones is long gone. But the laugh is his descriptions of his dates, he's as bad as I am for what gets noticed. And Bryne does not put up with anything fake. He believes much as I do that one cannot be half a libtard, half an idiot, or half a fake. It's a canyon you can't cross in two jumps.
Now I gave up on-line dating after a couple contacts back in the late 2000s, I mean, what sort of woman has to advertise for a date? I'd made the mistake of thinking I'd found an exclusive dating club (they required a college degree, which turned out to be false). My rational is that educated women would have learned their lessons about men and would be seeking out someone above-average. Boy, was I wrong. But Bryne reports two recent cyber dates. One was a nurse with bushy eyebrows, the other a 4-foot-2 school teacher with “penciled in eyebrows”. As he puts it himself, it was something he could not unsee. I advised him to get out his old guitar and go play some Texas club for free. I don't go out that often any more, but by the sounds of it, I meet many times more women than most guys. No Taylors yet, but that's still a lot of women. My kingdom and this cottage for a keeper.
